Printable Recipe
Prep time : 15 minutes (mostly to defrost, peel & devein the shrimp)
Rest time : 15-30 minutes
Cooking time: 4-5 minutes
Serves 4-8
Ingredients:
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp sea salt
1½ lb/675g large or jumbo shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 tbsp oil
1 lime cut into wedges
¼ cup cilantro leaves (actually the book specifically called for 24 cilantro leaves)
1 small ripe avocado, cut into small diced pieces
Directions:
1. Combine cayenne, turmeric, and salt in a non-reactive bowl. Rub the spice mixture onto the shrimp and set aside for 15-30 minutes
2. Heat the oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the shrimp until they lose their translucency and just start to turn pink ( 1-2 minutes per side). Remove from pan.
3. Remove to a serving bowl, add the avocado and cilantro, toss and serve with lime wedges.

I can't wait to make this dish, it looks so good! What other dish(es)would you suggest to serve it with?
Good question, when it's just the two of us, I simply serve it with steamed rice. When I'm making an Indian feast, I serve it as one of any number of dishes. Here's an example of what I mean http://onceuponafeast.blogspot.com/2006/08/indian-feasting-quite-party.html
Thanks for dropping by and let me know what you served it with.
Thanks Ruth! I will have to do an "Indian Night" soon :)
